week Seven Assignment three

 Week Seven Assignment 3

1. Explain the three levels of words and how you can use word levels to decide which words to teach.

familiar words- The words that teachers do  not have to teach .Ex bed, look, run

unfamiliar words- Words that student do not know the meaning of the words  that come up in conversation or on TV ex; RE reassuring. These are the words we focus on.

Highly technical words -words that come from chemistry or biology. These words we leave up to the Science teacher to teach

2. How do you teach your students to "chunk" words as a strategy for decoding unfamiliar words? When do you provide this instruction?

Take a long word and cut of the front of the word cut off the back and have them read the middle, If they can't read the middle cut the middle in half. After a few day tell the students that this is too expensive so they can  cover the front and back of words with their thumbs. After a few days the students will read without covering the word. This instruction is provided when students are sounding out each individual letter .By chunking words students will become  fluent readers

3. Based on Professor Allington's comments and the classroom examples, what are some ways you might foster word study in your classroom?

I would want to adopt into my classrooms learning a new day a word chart. That the students get to pick a word and we  discuss it and learn about it . I also like that he says that its not a one size fits all teaching we have to  adopt are teaching to all different type of learners.

Week Seven Assignment 2

 Assignment two

1. How can you ensure that your struggling readers have access to texts they can easily read?

A classroom library of all different level books is very important to help students to become more fluent readers .The more students read the more they become better readers.  Student should categorizes books as too easy, just right, too challenging. It absolutely essentials to have books at hand that the students can read. Practice matters a lot!

2. How can you foster a learning environment in which students have many opportunities to practice reading?

Instead of correcting the students  after each individual mistake  let the students first finish the ideas and then say does that make sense and the student will be able to correct them self. Modeling to the students how good readers read is very beneficial for students.

3. Describe ways in which you can model fluent reading in your classroom throughout the day.

Read out loud has a lot of benefits for students. Some students are not lucky enough to have heard a lot of stories  at their home. While teacher read they can model out to the students the proper way to read. When the teacher uses inflection, or  lowering her voice by scary parts really effects the students fluency.
